U.S. Postal Service Nears Collapse

An absolute amazing stat = US mail volume plunged 20 percent from 2006 to 2010. Yes more people work at the Postal Service than another other company except for Walmart.

USPS operates the world's largest network of post offices but 80 percent of the Post Offices lose money. There are 31,871 post offices

Postal union contracts prohibit any layoffs.

Other countries have moved many post offices into Gas Stations and Convenience stores and have greater hours with much lower costs...

What happens when Bank of America (BAC) or Citigroup says you are going to have to pay to get your statement on paper? That's going to change a lot of behavior. Post Offices will start losing money even quicker in the future..

Printed Magazines are fading, less than 5 years most will be e-delivered.

But the democrats want to send the Post Offices an additional $70 Billion to cover future health cost and give them all a raise without requiring a single layoff... Are they effing crazy?

Oh yes they the unions are saying that they can be profitable by shipping more junk mail...
