Ivy Bridge and the demise of overclocking

One reason staying with a PC based platform over the years was the ability to totally customize the hardware to one's desire.  Which usually meant making the desktop as fast as possible.  By overclocking and adding additional cooling, one could increase the spec speed by up to 20%.  Here's a nice overview of issues with overclocking the new intel ivy bridge chip set.
